Pioneering Sustainable Wilderness Experiences Since 2011
ForestWay Hiking was born from a profound passion for Australia's wilderness and a deep concern for its preservation. In 2011, three friends – experienced mountaineers and environmental scientists – embarked on a six-month expedition through Western Australia's most remote forest regions. During this transformative journey, they witnessed both the extraordinary beauty of untouched wilderness and the growing threats facing these precious ecosystems.
Inspired by this experience, they founded ForestWay Hiking with a revolutionary vision: to create hiking experiences that would not only showcase nature's magnificence but actively contribute to conservation efforts. What began as small group tours with borrowed equipment has evolved into one of Australia's most respected eco-tourism operations, guiding thousands of adventurers annually while maintaining the highest environmental standards.
Over fifteen years, we've pioneered sustainable trail management techniques, established partnerships with indigenous communities to honor traditional land stewardship, and developed educational programs that transform casual hikers into passionate environmental advocates. Our commitment to leaving no trace and giving back to the ecosystems we traverse has set new industry standards and inspired similar initiatives across the continent.
We believe every step taken in nature carries responsibility. Our operations follow strict Leave No Trace principles, and we actively participate in habitat restoration projects. A portion of every tour fee directly funds conservation initiatives, ensuring that our business model contributes positively to ecosystem health rather than degrading it.
We view every hike as an opportunity for environmental education. Our guides are trained educators who share insights about ecology, biodiversity, climate impacts, and conservation strategies. We empower participants with knowledge that extends far beyond their time on the trail, creating ripple effects of environmental consciousness in their communities.
We recognize that indigenous peoples have been the original stewards of these lands for thousands of years. Through respectful partnerships with Aboriginal communities, we incorporate traditional ecological knowledge into our practices and ensure that indigenous voices guide our approach to land use and cultural interpretation.
In an increasingly digital world, we create opportunities for genuine connection with nature and fellow adventurers. Our small group sizes, carefully selected routes, and emphasis on mindful presence ensure that every participant experiences the transformative power of wilderness immersion rather than merely consuming it as a tourist commodity.

"Taking my children on the Coastal Forest Explorer was the best family decision we've made. The guides adapted perfectly to the kids' energy levels and made learning about nature fun and engaging. My children still talk about the wildlife we saw and the stories about indigenous connections to the land. We're now regular ForestWay adventurers!"
